APF Support New South Wales

Daniel Blomfield has taken over as State Coordinator for new South Wales.

Under Daniel's guidance the NSW Branch will be facilitating regular social support gatherings.  While these usually take place in Sydney, we would be interested in setting up social contact wherever there is a need.  Requests are sought - so let Daniel know if you would like to have a social event in your part of NSW!

Patients, family members, friends, enquirers - all are welcome!

Services offered include telephone and email support for pituitary patients & carers and making available information about conditions.  The NSW Branch holds a major educational seminar annually as part of the Foundation's Pituitary Awareness activities, but also intends to conduct regular informal gatherings featuring a guest speaker.

Please contact Daniel for more information.

Current Activities

We're gearing up for a gathering!

NSW Branch is pleased to host a lunch on Saturday 13th March.    The plan is to have a relaxed lunch to socialise and discuss areas of interest in regards to education for 2010.  The venue is lovely and has reserved a special place out the back for us.

Everyone is welcome - you do not have to be a member.  Just call Daniel or email him

Venue is Jon Peirre's Cafe at Revesby in outer Sydney, NSW

Pituitary Awareness Seminar

The Pituitary Hormone Replacement and Suppressants Seminar was held on Saturday 21 November at Concord Hospital.  This was the first seminar I was attending as the NSW Co-ordinator, it was daunting at first, but I was very pleased with it.  We had great attendance, especially since it was organised at short notice.

Our three speakers, Klaus Sommer, Moira Fraser and Bin Moore spoke about pituitary hormone replacements and suppressants.  Their talks were very informative and on the practical side, the injection workshop was really good, I was glad to see people taking the time to have a go.

The talk on menopause was widely accepted and informative explaining the role the pituitary gland plays.  It was nice to see that Klaus, Bin, and Moira stayed after their talks and were able to speak to people on a more personal level.   As for myself, I was able to meet and talk to others who also have Pituitary problems.

I thoroughly enjoyed the day and I hope that others felt the same.

Moira Fraser did a wonderful presentation on Menopause

I am hoping to have a small informal lunch with a guest speaker in the New Year, more details to follow once organised.

Special thanks to Russ and Jan Fairweather and Sue Kozij for helping me and for Noel Hickey for coming down from QLD to help on the day.

Bin Moore (white shirt) spoke on the paediatric aspect of pituitary deficiency
