Cushings Support
The Cushing’s Social group’s 2008 Christmas lunch was sponsored by the pharmaceutical company, SciGen. The lunch was held at a Chinese Restaurant on the North Shore in Sydney. This location was chosen to minimize the travel for those who lived in that part of Sydney to make it easier for them to come, as well as people from the Central Coast and Newcastle.
This was the first time that a Cushing’s Group event has been sponsored. The group would like to thank SciGen for their sponsorship. It was very much appreciated particularly as Christmas time is an expensive time for everyone. It was great to know that costs were subsidised.
With members being at various stages of post Cushing’s treatment there was much comparing of experiences and medication requirements, as well as individual responses to the various issues associated with a pituitary that has been disturbed and often doesn’t work as well as it should. The partners enjoyed the chance to talk to other partners and carers and they too compared notes.
Social Gathering on 23rd November, 2008
The Tin Shed Café in Thirroul was our venue for lunch and they certainly provided an excellent meal at a reasonable cost. There being 13 adults and two children in our party, we “took over” the front of the café and all involved appeared to enjoy themselves with plenty of opinions and stories shared.

The children were excellent - not at all overawed by the experience. Max who is our youngest member, unfortunately suffers from a pituitary disorder, but hopefully by the time he reaches maturity will have a much improved prognosis.
Social Gathering on 20th April, 2008
NSW held a social get together at the Old Vienna Coffee House on Sunday 20th April. The event was really well attended. It was great that some people even brought their children along. We met for about 3 hours and the table was buzzing. Lots of information shared.

Support is what it's all about! In the photo you will see Pat (left) and Hui Ling (right). Hui Ling's husband came as well. Hui Ling was to have surgery very soon and was very nervous and worried. It turned out that Pat had had the same surgery some time ago and was able to reassure her so it was well worthwhile.
